(175113) 2004 PF₁₁₅ Precovery Images

The initial discovery of 2004 PF₁₁₅ was announced in MPEC 2007-R03 , then followed up five days later with 2007 astrometry in MPEC 2007-R29 . Additional 2002 astrometry from the NEAT archives added a third opposition.

Although 2004 PF₁₁₅ had been observed on only eight nights, the span of observations covered five years. The orbit was sufficiently accurate to find two DSS images from 1992 and 1994.

Additional images from the 1970s may exist in the DSS database, but these plates are not online. Moreover, 2004 PF₁₁₅ was closer to the summer Milky Way and interference with background stars may be a problem.

At the end of this page are the elements and residuals before and with the new data. The new orbit was much more accurate because the object had now been observed for 15 years instead of five years, and consequently 2004 PF₁₁₅ was numbered in January of 2008.
