The discovery announcement for this object included astrometry from only two oppositions, so there was considerable uncertainty in the estimated position of precovery images. Fortunately, 2008 AP129 was found on a 1993 plate only 70" away from the prediction. With an updated orbit, two additional images from 1989 and 1992 were also detected.
The following astrometry was submitted to the Minor Planet Center:
K08AC9P 1989 10 09.44583 05 46 28.54 +49 45 33.4 261 K08AC9P 1992 11 25.40347 06 16 06.14 +50 50 30.9 261 K08AC9P 1993 12 10.32917 06 25 30.05 +51 01 16.5 261At the end of this page are the elements and residuals before and with the new data. The new orbit is much more accurate because the object has now been observed for 19 years instead of one year. 2008 AP129 was numbered on 2012-02-07.
